It is time to get excited about… carpet!
I never thought I would see the day when I was getting excited over carpet, but I have discovered printed carpets which are just simply delicious! Gone are the days of playing it safe, this collection of well… quirky designs produced by Alternative Flooring in collaboration with Liberty Fabrics are luxurious & fun. Bringing the seventies into the spotlight, the patterns which include birds, flowers, paisley and shell can really help bring a room into life.
To add depth and vibrance to a room, we usually turn to wallpaper or even a brightly coloured feature wall. However, these 4 signature designs created and produced by two British brands are truly iconic for any space. Creating a talking point, they can be made into a runner too. Like the Quirky B collection says “life is too short to live in dull spaces” and yes Mood Interiors agrees!
Now, I completely understand that these may not be for everyone- my mother for one. These designs bring back old childhood memories of clashing colours and retro patterns which she would much rather be keep in the past. However, for me- being born in the late 80’s, I was surrounded by preppy style pastel chintz, so these vibrant and exciting carpets are a whole new territory for me.
Another inspiring carpet collection I have recently discovered comes from Britons Padstow Range. We used their glorious Pebble Spot carpet for a recent lounge scheme, which was partnered with plain grey and cobalt fabrics in rich velour from Jason D’Souza and the stunning textured Harlequin Enigma wallpaper with a hint of sparkle. Greys and blues can sometimes chill a room down, but adding full energy textures and patterns boost the appeal. The room needed a focus to tie it all together, and the woven Axminster carpet was just what it needed.
Have you considered patterned carpet in your space? Adding some depth to a neutral bedroom so you wake up with a feeling of pride as you sink your toes into the tufts of wool. Or perhaps adding some spark to your stairs, the carpets bold pattern hides those cheeky dirt marks you need to blur away for when your mother in law comes to visit- so its practical too!
