Trying new colours in your interior can be daunting, especially when they are bold and vibrant!
So my first blog post, how very exciting and incredibly frightening all at the same time! Decided its best to just be myself (sorry in advance). I personally highly rate individuality- especially when it comes to design.
You can’t teach someone to be creative, we either have it or we don’t… but what is universal is having taste. You either love something or you hate it. Marmite plug
Recently, I decided to decorate my own bedroom. My space to chill- out, unwind and shut myself away. This is the highlight of being single… you don’t have to share your space! But when it comes to my personal taste, I feel BOLDER the BETTER!!
Why are people so afraid of colour in small spaces. Yes it closes the room in…. yes it can appear dark… but surely if you use your bedroom for “you time” like I do…. then dark cosy colours is a no brainer. This was my own brief, create a space where I feel I can relax without feeling bored.
I wanted to go for something rich, somewhere warm (even when the heating wasn’t on), and a colour that made me feel happy. It was PROUD PEACOCK from Dulux that won me over. I just love the uniquness of this colour. Green is not something I have ever considered before but I LOVE IT.
Teaming this with gold accents, and seventies chic fur (yes I am not ashamed of the faux fur accessories) created a boudoir I can can call my own. Getting a “Preet this is so you” reaction, just encourages me even more to be myself. Being proud of the tastes you have shows a lot of confidence.
At the end of it all… we should never fear paint. Wallpaper may take some more consideration due to cost and times, which I will go into at a later stage. However, paint can be covered up in few hours, so don’t be afraid to be bold with your colours. Ignore the opinion of others… this is your space… (unless it’s shared with your partner… then I don’t want to cause a domestic). Make the MOOD yours!
